We were proud winners of the Employer of the Year Award at the Quality Skills Alliance (QSA) Awards 2021.

This award was in recognition of our successful work with our team of apprentices.

For National Apprenticeship Week, we put together this video with 2 of our star apprentices to discuss their experiences as CMB apprentices and what their roles involve.

APPRENTICESHIPS AT CMB ENGINEERING

We operate our "Train and Retain" modern apprentice programme through Cardiff & Vale College. Our culture is to develop and promote from within with progressive career paths built in to our training programmes.

To coincide with the college year, successful applicants will commence employment with us in September of each year, although specific dates and apprentice numbers will be confirmed.

WORK EXPERIENCE PLACEMENTS

Our established Apprentice Training Scheme utilises Local Schools and Colleges for both Craft Apprenticeships and Higher Educational Courses for Engineering. We use our relationships to offer opportunities for all Students to widen their appreciation of the Building Services Sector and encourage the students to actively pursue a career in Construction.

We offer students the opportunity to work alongside our experienced Staff in a multitude of roles such as Finance, IT Support, Commercial, Health & Safety, CAD Design, Estimating and Mechanical Engineering.

1 We work closely with the Schools Careers Advice Teams and Cardiff & Vale College to offer Students a thorough insight into the Mechanical and Electrical Industry.

2 We would also support the opportunity for Students to undertake an Apprenticeship with CMB Engineering, following successful completion of GCSE / A Level Examinations.

AT CMB Engineering, our work experience opportunities are not your ordinary placements. We focus on providing the most useful and varied experience possible to our students whilst keeping them engaged and enthused at all times.

Several of our work experience students have thrived in this environment, securing themselves permanent jobs at CMB in the process. A prime example of this is Rob Borley, who began his career at CMB as a site-based Craft Apprentice and progressed through the ranks to become a Project Director.
