MAESTEG
TOWN HALL

We are excited to announce the successful completion of another project, with Maesteg Town Hall now fully equipped and open to the public. This facility brings a blend of theatre, performance, live comedy, cinema, and more to the Grade II Listed building.
CMB secured the £1.1 Million Mechanical contract for this project with Main Contractor Knox & Wells in 2020 and work began onsite shortly after. The facility was officially reopened on November 20th 2024, welcoming the public to enjoy its revitalised space.
A major redevelopment has restored the 145-year-old Town Hall to its former glory, blending its rich heritage with modern amenities. These include a glass atrium, studio theatre, cinema, contemporary library, local history and heritage centre, and a café. The revamped space now hosts a wide variety of arts, cultural, and community events for people of all ages from Maesteg and the surrounding areas.
To preserve its history, the building’s architectural heritage features such as the brick archways, tiling, cornicing, and columns, have been carefully maintained, adding remarkable character to the finished structure. Additionally, historic paintings that were donated to the Town Hall by Welsh artist Christopher Williams before his death in 1934, have been restored and are now also proudly displayed.
The CMB team carried out the following Mechanical services during the project:
-
Heating System comprising of Plantroom, Gas Fired Boilers, Radiant Panels, Trench Heating, Underfloor Heating and Radiators
-
Ventilation Systems, comprising of 2no Air Handling Units, 6 MVHR’s and various Toilet Extract Systems
-

-

-

-

-

These new facilities offer a wealth of opportunities for the local community, representing one of the largest investments ever made in the area. We are proud to have been part of this exciting redevelopment.
CMB Project Director, Richard Smithen, commented on the latest handover saying:
“The Maesteg Town Hall project brought many formidable challenges during its extensive renovation. Despite these challenges, the whole team pulled together to deliver a fantastic new facility for the local community to enjoy for many years to come.”
