We want to say a huge congratulations to CMB Engineering 3rd Year Apprentice, Kian Elward, who was recently awarded the 2024 Welsh HIP Learner of the Year, marking the second year in a row a CMB apprentice has won this award.
Kian was nominated by his mentors at Cardiff and Vale College to participate in a live practical exam where his heating and ventilation skills were put to the test against others in the industry. CMB and CAVC couldn’t be more impressed with Kian as he now goes to compete in the National Finals at the OB1 Headquarters in Stafford across a 2-day event at the end of March.
Kian believes this award has solidified the confidence he has in his abilities, and he prides himself on his efforts being recognised nationally. He encourages others, if given the opportunity, to show what they can do under the spotlight as it can pay off invaluably. He added:
“I am very pleased to have been selected to attend the HIP Learner of the Year competition. It was an amazing experience being able to work not only against, but also alongside, other plumbers and pipe fitters all competing to win the competition. It was an amazing outcome and I am very happy I got the chance to take part.”
