Staff from our Fairwater Community Campus team recently attended an event for Grangetown Primary School in Cardiff where they spoke with children aged 4 to 11, introducing them to what it's like to work in the construction industry.
The pupils participated in a variety of health and safety tasks, where full supervision was provided to encourage investigation of pipework skills and to develop an understanding of basic tools – they were even supplied with child sized personal protective equipment (PPE) to provide a full immersive experience.
We believe it’s important to connect with children at a young age and show them, in a fun and hands-on way, what a future career in this industry could look like. Career days like these are a fantastic initiative, helping to make roles in construction feel both accessible and exciting for children. Who knows? These could be the next generation of future engineers!
