Investors in People: Gold Award 2021

We are delighted to announce that we have recently been awarded the Gold Accreditation, We Invest in People award by Investors in People.

This is the second time in a row CMB have been awarded the Gold Accreditation and is a reflection of our continued efforts to promote a positive workplace environment with a motivated team of staff.

The Gold Accreditation means that we have established the necessary policies in place to achieve this standard, but more than that, it means everyone - from Managing Director to our apprentices - takes ownership and responsibility for bringing these policies to life.

This Gold Accreditation has only been achieved by 17% of all accredited organisations through Investors in People and has placed us at position 26 of the 165 construction companies that Investors in People have accredited.

We were first awarded the Gold Accreditation back in 2018, with the credit lasting for 3 years. To have our efforts and consistency be acknowledged and rewarded for a second time in a row highlights CMB’s commitment to developing the culture and workplace that our staff operate in.

Construction is a competitive and constantly changing industry and we have made it a priority to keep up with the best of our competitors. This has ensured our clients receive only the best services each and every time we sign a contract and this recent acknowledgement from Investors in People further proves our methods are succeeding.

Paul Devoy, CEO of Investors in People, said: “We’d like to congratulate CMB Engineering on their recent accreditation. Gold Accreditation on We invest in people is a fantastic effort for any organisation, and places CMB in fine company with a host of organisations that understand the value of people.”

Commenting on the award, CMB Managing Director of coming up on 30 years, Steve Borley, added: “Our staff are recognised as our biggest asset which is underpinned by our train and retain policy and career pathways. It’s satisfying to be recognised for principles we as a business hold dear and it’s a credit to our staff who are the driving force behind our growth and success. This award is as much theirs as it is the companies. Well done and continue to dare to dream.” CMB Office Manager, Mike Borley, who led the process, said: “I am pleased that we were, once again, successful in achieving the IIP Gold Award. To continue to be recongised in developing and supporting our colleagues, particularly during the pandemic, is an achievement to be proud of".

After 2018’s report, we worked hard to improve on the suggestions from our report practitioner by developing numerous departments in the organisation, improving departmental communications, continuing employee rewards and acknowledgement of work ethic and much more. After 2021’s report, we aim to do the same going forward until the next report in 2024. Below are some anonymous testimonials from CMB employees gathered throughout the review process:
