Mental Health Awareness Week

This week is #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek and the official theme for this year is Anxiety.

At some point in our lives, we have all felt the feeling of anxiety, whether it be a passing emotion or something that severely affects our mental health on a daily basis. Starting or losing a job, work pressures, relationships, the cost-of-living struggles, and other major life events can all contribute to the feeling of anxiety – but for engineers, the evidence is clear that they are highly susceptible to experiencing such feelings.

According to a 2022 study conducted by EqualEngineers, 1 in 4 engineers have contemplated self-harm or suicide. This is said to be the case because it’s a male dominated industry and men often feel less comfortable discussing their personal issues.

CMB feel that neither your gender nor your profession should prevent you from talking about your mental health if you are experiencing anxiety. We encourage not just our engineers, but any staff from office to site, to speak out if they are suffering in silence.

Our Mental Health Champions Team at CMB are here for you and you can find our list of Champions through our HR department.
