CMB West secured the £2M Mechanical contract with BAM for the Whiteheads Primary School, Newport in October last year and commenced work on site in March 2024.
The school will offer an exceptional educational experience to 686 pupils, and in keeping with Newport Council's aspirations, it aims to achieve Operational Net Zero Carbon status by using a variety of different technologies including Air Source Heat Pumps, Photovoltaics, low air permeability and low U-Values.
The project is progressing smoothly with all milestones being met as per programme requirements. The CMB team have successfully completed key deliverables and are now focusing on the upcoming tasks such as final fix and commissioning.
The majority of First Fix Heating, Domestics, Sprinkler, and Ventilation Systems are complete and tested with ASHP Compound and Plantroom works also complete in readiness for testing and insulation. Meanwhile, BMS works are ongoing and under floor heating and screeding works are complete and tested.
