SWANSEA
UNIVERSITY
BAY CAMPUS
PROFILE
After nearly 2 years, work is now drawing to a close on the first phase of the New Bay Campus constructed for Swansea University on reclaimed industrial land at Swansea Bay.

The campus has a mixture of accommodation and academic buildings and it is these academic buildings that CMB West have been involved in the construction of 5 of the 7 facilities constructed. The buildings range from a state of the art library facility and data storage centre, teaching and engineering facilities to a large assembly / function hall.

Each building has had different challenges and a range of individual services to suit their varied use. Manufacturing Building was primarily used as a teaching and administration facility for their Engineering faculty.

The Great Hall was built in a classical style to provide the campus with a central focus and large hall for graduation ceremonies and concerts. Learning Resource Centre is a state of the art library with automatic book and document recovery systems and storage for other data resources.

The SMaRT Building was designed specifically for the University’s partner companies for research staff to explore new ways of treating and investigation of properties of metals used in high speed turbines for aircraft and power generation.

CMB West also worked closely with the Principal Contractor VINCI Construction UK to provide a safe workplace for all site personnel and regularly topped various tables collated by VINCI for Safety with several members of the CMB Team winning individual awards.
