WILLOWS HIGH SCHOOL
Willows High School is a local school just 2 miles away from our CMB Cardiff office. It is located in an underfunded part of the city not far from the Tata Steelworks.

We heard that their existing AstroTurf football pitch had been declared unsafe for use due to the slippery surface. We also knew through our many football fans in the company that Bridgend Street AFC (a local welsh league football team) had played their home games on the school grounds for the past 15 years.
HOW DID CMB CONTRIBUTE?
Upon discovering this news, we wanted to act and resolve this problem as we know the value of sporting facilities within local and underfunded areas of the city.

Due to the House of Sport AirDome at Leckwith being moved to the other side of the stadium to allow Fitzalan High School to be built, the existing pitch was due to be relocated and replaced with a new surface.
We decided this was the perfect opportunity to recycle the AstroTurf and donate it to Willows High School and the Bridgend Street Football Club to allow both parties to continue benefiting from the facility.
The works were done by our good friends at South Wales Sports Grounds at a reduced rate and by donations from Kier. CMB organised all the works for the renovations and paid for the transportation of all the material.
